Take a look at the photos section of this website, from last late August until the present time, and marvel at the journey your kids have been on. It is 6th grade. Every year brings change, of course, but the changes that occur in 6th grade are amazing and pivotal. It has been quite a year and it has been a pleasure for me to be there with these young people and to get to know all of you.
Math: We have moved beyond the math book, beyond the mandated "frameworks" but we continue to work with math and prepare for 7th grade. Grades have closed and so what you see when you visit Power School is indeed the grade your child has earned. There won't be any homework this week but we will continue to explore probability and learn about the angle measures of polygons. We will do that by exploring and investigating, two of my favorite features of math.
Science: The Science portfolios have been graded and will be returned to students on Monday. Students will receive the grading slips for our completed Environmental Issues paper, poster and presentation on Tuesday. Science grades will not be "finalized" until that day.
I have had a blast this year! Thank you!
English Language Arts, Reading and History
We will have the last notebook check on Monday for a History test/project grade.
We will have a grammar final on Monday.
Students will take home ALL graded papers on Monday from me. You should have already seen the writing folders with the fabulous interview projects on Friday. Monday will include everything else.
On Tuesday, we take the STAR RENAISSANCE reading comprehension test as sort of a benchmark for 7th grade teachers.
This is done on the computer Chromebooks. I will also be collecting all Treasure and History textbooks.
Whew!!!! Almost there!
